What's included

• A real US mobile number, not VoIP and not a virtual number. What that means.
• Every incoming text, delivered live. There are no per-text charges.
• Codes that arrive by phone call, too. Some services read a code out over an automated call instead of texting it. The call is transcribed, and the transcript lands in your inbox like a text, with the code pulled out and the number that called shown.
• Five ways to read them: the live inbox in your browser, email, a Telegram chat, signed webhooks and the REST API.
• Your whole team, invited by email at no extra cost. Each person picks how texts reach them.
• Your number, held for 30 days if you cancel or a payment fails, so you have time to come back or move your accounts.

What's not included

Better you hear it here than after checkout.

• Making or answering calls. Cleat Line can't place a call, and there is nothing to answer: an incoming call reaches you afterwards as a transcript, never as a ringing phone. You can't listen to it or return it.
• Sending texts. Nobody can send a text from a Cleat line today. Calls and outbound texts are coming with Cleat Full.
• 911 or any emergency number. A Cleat line can't place calls at all, so it can't reach 911 or any other emergency number. Keep a regular phone for emergencies.
• Choosing your area code. Numbers are assigned from available US inventory.
• More than one number on a subscription. Each line is its own $24.99 monthly subscription.
• A promise that every service will text you. Most services that turn away VoIP accept a real mobile line. No provider can promise that every service accepts every number, so try yours in your first month.

Before you pay: the identity check

Every line belongs to a verified person, and nobody gets a number before verifying. You verify once, with a government ID and a selfie, handled by Stripe. It takes about two minutes. Prefer not to take a selfie? Choose the ID-only option, and a person reviews the result before you can check out.

Stripe checks your documents. We receive the outcome and a reference to the check, not copies of your ID or selfie. Why we ask · Privacy Policy.

Billing, renewals and cancelling

• Monthly, in US dollars, through Stripe. $24.99 a month per line, plus any taxes that apply. There's no yearly plan.
• Renews every month until you cancel. The renewal terms are shown at checkout and repeated in every invoice email.
• Cancel anytime, online, from Billing in your account. The line stays yours until the end of the period you've paid for.
• No refunds for part of a month, except where the law requires one. If we can't set up a line you paid for, we cancel the subscription and refund you automatically.
• Held for 30 days after billing ends. Texts that arrive during the hold are kept and unlock when you resubscribe. After 30 days the number is released and may later be given to someone else, so move your accounts off it first.
• An invoice for every payment, emailed to you and ready to download from Billing.

Paying from outside the US

The price is set in US dollars everywhere. Your bank may convert it and add its own fees; in Brazil, that can include IOF. Checkout asks for the billing address that goes with your card, and you can add a tax ID for your invoices. The full rules are in our Terms.

Compared with other ways to get a US number

Pick a SIM if you're in the US and need calls. Pick an app if you want a free or cheap number for calling and texting people. Pick Cleat if what you need is for verification codes to arrive, and for your team to see them.
